White space between two paragraphs that have a background color?

I'd like to make some white space between the paragraphs but without
inserting a blank paragraph (which would have white background). Is it
possible?

Having different indents does this if you have two paragraphs with different
styles, but not with only one style.

I'd like to have some space between paragraph 1.1.1 and 1.1.1.1

Thanks.

Use Format - Paragraph - Spacing After. 12 points of space after is usually
about right.

I hope this helps.

How 'bout Format -> Paragraph -> Spacing and put in numbers for the
number of points (1/100th's of an inch) you want before or after the
"paragraph".

I already tried that :) The funny thing is that it makes some space, but the
background won't be white but colored according to the color of the first
paragraph...

No matter how much space I add, I can't make the background of that space
white (I mean different from the background of the paragraphs)

Isn't this the opposite of what you asked originally? I thought that you
said that you wanted to avoid white space, and now it seems that you are
saying the suggested method is not good because it avoids white space.

No, I'm trying to HAVE that white space there.
I said "I'd like to make some white space..."

Depending on how much space you need, you might be able to add a white
bottom border (you can go up to 6 points in width). Add a 6-point white top
border on the paragraph below and you'd have 12 points, which should more
than suffice.

That's a good idea. Even a border with 1/4 pt of width does the trick. Thanks
for the help. Just put this somewhere into the online help, please ;)

You'll never find things like this in the online Help, I'm afraid. Help can
only go so far; beyond that, you have to use your knowledge of Word and your
ingenuity.
