Paragraph styles lose horizontal border separation

I have four paragraph styles for Warning and Note, indented and normal .They
all have similar formatting which includes a border and background color,
grey for Note and yellow for Warning.

When two paragraphs of the same indentation level follow one another, the
horizontal border separation is lost and a single border encompasses both
paragrapghs so that they merge, except in the case of the background color,
each retains its correct color.

When two paragraphs of different indentation levels follow one another, each
retains its own borders and there is even a little white space between the
two.

Are there any properties that would recreate this effect between two
paragraphs of the same indentation level that does not involve placing a
dummy paragraph between the two?

Thanks in advance

By default, Word won't insert a border between two paragraphs using
the same style. Fortunately, you can change that behavior: Select two
successive paragraphs using the same style. Open the Modify Style
dialog box, and then click Format>Border. In the Borders and Shading
dialog box, click the Borders tab. In the Preview picture, click the
space between the two paragraphs to add a border line there. Close all
dialog boxes. Repeat this for any additional styles.

This won't give you two separate borders, though, just an inside horizontal
border--not the same thing.

And it would not be a global solution making the task somewhat laborious.

Is there another workaround?

Otherwise, I'll live with it as is.

I've never found any solution other than an empty paragraph between the
bordered ones. Sorry.

It's certainly a global solution in the sense that the inside border
can be added to a paragraph style.
