Whistler Personal

I am working on a system purchased from HP about 2 years ago. When you boot into Safe Mode, it asks which Windows do you want to load. It only shows Microsoft Windows Whistler Personal. Yet it shows Windows XP Home once Windows loads

When I called HP, they stated Windows Whistler Personal was installed as the OS first, then it was upgraded to Windows XP Home. Is there a way I could verify the OS is Windows XP Home for sure

Thanks

Whistler was the Microsoft code name for XP.I also have
an HP and it shows the same thing as yours,No need to
worry about it.

Go to Start->Run and type winver then click OK. It will tell you the version
you have installed.

'Whistler Personal' was the name given to XP home when it was in
development. HP should have had no business sending out a system with
such a development or pre-release version on it, but it may well be just
the boot.ini file taken from something earlier when they installed - the
reference on the menu is just the comment in that file. Start - Run and
run WinVer

That will give you the name and build number for the system as it is
running. It ought to be 5.1 (Build 2600 . . . .) for the released
version of XP Home - with possible additional reference to Service Pack
1 if that has been installed
