How do I derermine which version of Windows Defender to choose from? What
does x64 mean?
For additional information, my system is Window XP Media Center SP2, with

Hello Isabelle,

The 64-bit version is for 64-bit OS versiºns. Is named Windows Defender64.msi

The 32-bit version is for the 99% of the users is named Windows Defender.msi

I hope this post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.

actually if you pick the 64 bit version (or visa versa) and you are running
32bit xp version it will come back and tell you it cannot install- it will
say something like- This version is not for your operating system.

That's true, and we have far more questions here than I would expect from
the folks who've done that.
