All versions of Office (at least as far back as 6.0) have the Equation
Editor, but it isn't installed by the "standard" installer option -- you
have to use the "complete" or "custom" options.
MathType doesn't come with any version of Office. You have to buy it
separately (www.mathtype.com), although there is a free trial version.
