Which Hotfixes can I delete?

John

I running Windows XP and I had updated it to SP1 and 2,
however,I still have many hotfixes in memory. How do I
tell which hotfixes are required after upgrading to SP2?
Specifically, I am interested in a group of hotfixes with
the serial numbers starting with KB2_ _ _; can I delete
them? Thanks

Sp2 is not out yet. It will be released something next year. You need all
the Hotfixes listed in the Add/Remove Programs. They are not stored in
memory, they are stored on your hard drive.

"Hotfixes" are the updates you installed from the Windows Update
website. Do not be tempted to remove them or you will uninstall
the actual updates.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the
actual updates.
