which group will help with d drive

I know this is not where to post this message, but I don't know where to go.
I have a toshiba laptop, 2 years old, and I'm using windows xp, office 2000
and I can add files to my computer from my d drive when I have a disk in,
but I can't use the drive to save files from my computer. Am I missing a
drive or something?
Please, any help is very appreciated.
