which free e-mail clients are available to use with outlook 2003?

I have just found out that yahoo isn't compatible with outlook 2003 for some
reason, and that Hotmail services will only work if they are the premium
services. Is there any other e-mail client available to use with this edition
of outlook?

Many Thanks

I'm using Outlook 2003 with Yahoo POP mail... no problems.
OS is Windows XP Pro.

I thought that:
1. The word "client" in this context would refer to software running
on a PC or terminal, as opposed to on a server;
2. G-mail, hotmail, yahoo are server-based;
3. Outlook is a client e-mail program, among other things; and
4. A browser like Internet Explorer is client software for using
server-based web applications like the free mail services mentioned
above.

Am I mistaken ?

You are correct but I think the original poster was using the terms a bit
more loosely than either you or I might
