Which codecs are installed by vendor

Is there any way of knowing which codecs are installed/used by a specific
application?
Specically I installed Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced a while back and I'd like to
know specifically which audio/video codecs it uses for MP3, MPEG-2, MPEG-4
etc..

Looking under
Device Manager | Sound, video and game controllers | Audio Codecs (or
Video Codecs)
doesn't really help tell me which of these are being used.
(does this Device Manager list necessarily specify ALL the codecs that can
be used by any audio/vide installed application??

It does, to some extent: if you select one and press Properties, you can
enable/disable it, and change its priority and some settings.

I'd say: only those codecs that have been registered for common use.
