FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder 2006-07-13 SSE
FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder 2006-07-13 SSE2

Which one is best to install?

Does the Standard, SSE, SSE2 really matter?

Downloadable Codecs often come with std extras, ie viruses/trojans/malaware,
allthough I cant speak for this source.

I would only install codecs if you need them. I.e. if something won't play.

To see the Installed Codecs...

Thanks DL & Wesley

I usually update my codecs regually from various codec
packs, but from your comments, it might not be such a
good idea, now a days.

I have Gspot its good.

I am having trouble with

FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder SSE

which I downloaded couple of months ago, I think I will
have to risk updating it to the latest version.

I have tryed all three versions of FFDShow, on a SSE
CPU, I don't see any difference, its got something to do
with being "friendly" to the CPU and not overstressing it, I
think.

There was some thing on one of the MVP's sites,
PapaJohn or someone else about avoiding a particular
codec pack, and I think the Elcad or something mpeg2
codec, anyway trial and error I probably find which one it is.

<quote>
WARNING...

There are websites on the Internet that you can download a whole bunch of
codec's packed into one file. Three of the most common names are Angel
Potion, Tsunami and Nimo.

PLEASE do not!

These files can cause you many problems on your PC! Steer clear of these and
just install the codec's you need - when you need them by following the
advice in this article.
