What would work even better is to make yourself a slipstreamed
installation disk. I like AutoStreamer, but there are other methods:

How to use AutoStreamer:

How to slipstream sp2 into XP

Otherwise, it doesn't matter which CD you use - SP2 includes SP1 and all
the updates up until SP2. Install your operating system, the drivers,
and then SP2. Don't connect the computer to the Internet until the SP2
Windows Firewall and an antivirus are in place. Then do Windows Updates
to bring your computer up to date since SP2 is over a year old now and
there have been subsequent patches.

Doesn't matter. SP2 includes all the SP1 fixes, so either would work.

Or create a slipstreamed CD with SP2 already added to Windows XP, and use
that.. See http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=7262

Since you've not yet slipstreamed SP2 into your base CD (which takes time),
I'd simply install the base CD then upgrade to SP2. Then move your Documents
and Settings folder to another partition and finally image the system drive
to DVD. Slipstreaming is certainly useful (you can include 3rd party
software and drivers, as well as automate the entire process), but imaging a
fresh install would effectively negate the need to re-install the OS.
