Where should I ask this?

Michael

I have installed WinXP on my new computer (3 GHz, 1 Gb RAM).
It's fast loading applications, but when I had it networked through a hub,
loading applications went slow, even when I have excel opened and double
clicked another excel file, loading it in the open instance takes a long
time (at least 3 seconds compared to instantaneous without networking), as
though there isn't enough memory.
Is there a configuration I have missed?

Sounds like it may be searching for other drives on the
network.

Click Start - My Computer - Tools - Folder Options -
View - then uncheck the box "Automatically search for
network folders and printers"

Hope this works for you

Hi,

Thansk you for your reply.
I've tried your approach also, but it's still going slow.
I'm wondering if it hasn't something to do with DDE.

Any idea?

In case if someone is interested, I've found why.
Just uncheck Client for Microsoft Network for the network connection and all
seems to go smoothly.
