Where is the logon picture located?

Hi all,

I originally had my Windows XP logon picture and the desktop
background picture to be the same.

But now accidentally I changed the desktop background picture to the
Windows XP default one.

I want to find it back. It's really important to me.

Fortunately I found that the windows logon picture is still there (the
screen showed when I type in my username and password).

I just have to find the location of that logon picture and then make
it to the desktop background picture again.

Could anybody please help me?

Best,

Thanks a lot!

Could you please describe what a "logon picture" is?

I feel sure I could help, if I knew what you were referring to.

Lu,
If you are referring to the picture that briefly appears before the
'Welcome' screen, then you can alter what picture will be displayed by
changing the following registry value :

"HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop"

"Wallpaper"=

On the other hand, if you are talking about the tiny picture that
appears with your user name on the 'Welcome' screen, then you can find
all the available pictures in the following folder :

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User
Account Pictures\Default Pictures"

....and your currently defined image is in the folder just above it :

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User
Account Pictures"

....named with your username .bmp

Hope this covers what you were asking about...
