where is my personal folder???

My old PC died (hard drive lived), so I got a new one. I backed up my entire
old hard drive onto a portable one. So, now I've decided that I want to move
my personal folder over to my new machine, but I can't find it. I'm a system
administrator, so I'm no dummy, but apparently I'm clueless when it comes to
Outlook 2003. I have found a strange folder (not a file) named outlook.pst
with the path Program Files\Support.com\backup\ou\outlook.pst Again, this is
a folder, not a file, and there are 23 files within this folder with names
like "16580608_5a4160191_" with no extension.

Also, there is NO "Local Settings" folder on my old hard drive... It was an
XP, as is my new one, and I'm running Outlook 2003 (as I was on my old one).

Any ideas????

Thanks so much in advance.

Make sure you're including hidden & system folders in your search for *.pst.

I've done that, and nothing comes up except the folder named outlook.pst with
all of those random files inside. Any idea as to what this folder is and what
happened to my emails??? Like I said, there is no "Local Settings" folder at
all.

Thanks.

That seems really strange, Sally, because the default location for the
*.pst file should be: Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook which you probably already
know since you´re a systems administrator (as myself)...could it be
that you had set another location for your *.pst file? A good idea is
to have your *.pst file on another location, preferably on another
partition or even another HDD and keep regular backups of your
mailfile...it´s always sad and frustrating when something like this
occurs but it will learn you to be more cautious with backups and where
to store files like *.pst *.pab etc...I hope you´ll find your *.pst
file eventually...
