Triplication of my Personal folder

G

Guest

I have recently transferred my outlook files from my old computer to a new
one. The old one use Windows XP as OS and this one uses Vista. To my dismay
my personal folders were triplicated. There is only one address for the
Outlook.pst file in Mail Setup/data Files
And no, I can't just delete them when I click on the inactive Personal
Folders. If I do delete any folder then it is lost to all three. Strange

Hardly strange. It is end user error and is a symptom of incorrect data
migration procedure. State what you did so we can keep you from doing it
again.

I copied to my new computer and then in Outlook pointed to the outlook.pst
file in Tools/Options/mail setup/data files

Where did you copy this file?
Never copy it to Outlook's default directory.
The correct method would be to transfer the file to another location, open
it in Outlook, and set it as your default. Anything else may cause the
problem you are seeing.

And did you make that PST your delivery location and remove the previous PST
reference(s)?

You're welcome. It's a shame Outlook makes migrating data so difficult.
