One of the things I liked about my new XP computer was that it had a little
pop up window that appeared when I closed a web browser that asked me if I
wanted to disconnect or not....now it has disappeared....where has it gone &
more importantly how do I get it back????????

How are you connected to the Internet NOW and how were you connected when
you used to get that message?

(In other words - what type of connection do you pay your Internet Service
provider for?)

Hi there Lesley,

I think what Shenan was getting at was, did you recently install a router in
your house? If you did, the software probably reconfigured your connection
so that it is controlled by the router and not your pc.

Hope this helps!

If you have the connection icon in the system tray, right-click and see
if there is a disconnect command.

it is!!!!

Quaoar....yes I have the connection icon in the system tray but I liked the
pop up window asking me did I want to disconnect because sometimes I start to

Hi Leslie,

Try this:

Open an Internet Explorer window.
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click
Internet Options.
Click the Connections tab, click your Dial-Up Networking connection, and
then click Settings.
Under Dial-up Settings, click Advanced.
Uncheck the "Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed" check box
to select it.
Click OK, click OK, and then click OK again.
Reboot your PC to get the new settings to take effect.

Let us know how it goes!

Best Regards,

~Will
