where has my sound icon gone?

Win XP home / Pentium 4 / 1.60 GHz / 504 ram
I have just noticed that my sound icon has dissapeared from the bottom right
of my task bar. I have checked to see if I have it enabled to show in the
task bar and it is (control panel /sounds and audio devices).
I have just installed SP2 and I didn't notice the icon had gone before that.
Maybe its a coincidence.
How do I get the icon back and how do I change the sound settings without
this icon?

Many thanks ... I ran the script to restore task bar icons and now its back.
