Where do I find "Inbox Repair Tool"?

When using Outlook 2000, I get the following message" Errors detected in
C:\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\Outlook\outlook.pst" The directs
me to quit all e-mail and use "Inbox Repair Tool". I cannot find the Inbox
Repair tool in accessories or system tool or even searching for the tool.
Where do I find it?

Hello Phil if you are looking for a tool to fix your PST files, you could
search the next application locally in your PC, that is SCANPST.EXE, and then
you have to click on Browse and select those PST files that you want to
evaluate and fix.

There are 8 phases for the scanst.exe repair, and on the 7th phase I get a
message that an error was encountered and no changes were made. What options
do I have to correct my Outlook index file if scanst.exe doesn't work?

Copy it to another drive and try it from there. There are also 3rd party
repair tools (most of them quite expensive) or you could restore from
backup.

If I copy the .pst file to another drive, say a large flash drive, can I then
again attempt to run the Inbox repair tool, or can I get outlook to look to
the flash drive to find the emails. I have over three years of emails that
are lost in my computer. Suddenly, out of the blue, Outlook gave me an error
message and then told me to run the Inbox Repair Tool. I ran the Tool and
that failed. I am quite desperate to get these emails back. All are work
related.

In the search box, type Scanpst.exe. If you cannot find the Scanpst.exe file
by using Find or Search, try to locate the file manually. Check the following
locations for the file. Where the file is located depends on which version of
Windows you are using:

* disk drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12
* disk drive:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\
* disk drive:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT
* disk drive:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033
* disk drive:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
* disk drive:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\
* disk drive:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

You may also review another advanced 3rd party pst repair software which is
equipped with excellent features like compatibility with windows7, count of
all items in individual folder, MS outlook is not required on system for
running application, no need to rescan the file in full version and most
exciting is 100% preview & Detail Summary Report of all recoverable items
which help you to evaluate the software and make better decision about how
helpful will it be for you?
