Where Did Bytes Go?

chanook*xyz* No trouble with automatic update of SP1-all seems to be
working fine. My question is after installation of SP1 by space increased to
30.1GB from 28.4GB--great. Now 2 days later it is showing
26.2GB available. Why has it dropped from 30 to 26. Have downloaded
nothing and there have been no
other updates? Hopefully, there is an answer somewhere. Thank you for any
help or ideas.

Vista SP1 automatically performs a cleanup operation
of temporay files used during the installation of SP1.

You need to free your virtual memory which is a hidden place where all your
temp acessed files will be stored just delete everything n see and also check
check in bios if there is any restriction u have made ,Try doing a system
Defragmentation which is in your System Tools of your computer...

chanook*xyz* thank you for a reply. I did do a defragment, a disk cleanup
for temp files and all of that stuff.
I have no idea what you mean about - free your virtual memory. I'm sorry
wouldn't know how to do that or how to
check in bios for anything or what to do with it. sorry about that. thank
you for any help.

Download and install CCleaner ( http://www.ccleaner.com/ ) which will
clean out about everything not needed (including those "Virtual" files).
STAY with the default standard items which already contain check marks, then
in the advanced field place a check mark in the box by "Old Prefetch Data"
then run it about every other day.

Gene K-- thankyou. I already had CCleaner installed and did what you said.
That really did help. Instead of
26GB I am now at 27.6GB. Still was bit scary why went from 30GB after
install of SP1 down to 26GB two days
later when absolutely nothing had been added or changed by me. Thank you so
very much for your help.
