Where are rules stored?

I had created a ton of rules for incoming and outgoing email. They have all
disapeared. I have a back up of my documents and settings from last night.
Are the rules stored in a folder in documents and settings or somewhere else?
Are they recoverable?
 
They are kept within the (default) pst-file. You could try a restore on
that.
