Where are my removable drives?

Around three months ago, I had upgraded my bios via software. Now, my
removable drives does not show up in my computer. My desktop came with a
built in multi card reader. It's a Pro-III M USB Card Reader. According to
the card reader user's guide, software is not needed for Win XP. The Bios
support services says that its non-bios related and mentioned to check my usb
ports. He said I should just reinstall the drivers. However, no drivers are
needed. I went inside my computer and seen that everything was attached and
not loose. How can I get my removable drive to work? The power on the USB
card reader is on. But no access when I insert a memory card. Someone told
me I should just reinstall back to factory default. But I don't want to use
that as an option. Please help me solve this problem. Also, if you have a
website i can visit for this particular card reader, that will be great.

All helpful replies are requested. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

..........He said I should just reinstall the drivers.

Might not be helpful, but may he have been speaking of reinstalling your
motherboard drivers? Your BIOS update may have confused the firmware
that's operating your motherbaord.

One thing that a lot of people forget after flashing the bios
is that it often reverts to a default state. One should always
run through the bios configuration checklist to make sure that
the settings are correct. For example, did you check in bios
setup whether or not USB is enabled?

The tech guy said i should reinstall the card reader drivers. But drivers
are not required in Win XP according to the PRO-III M USB Card Reader user's
guide.

Have you considered the advice of PA20Pilot about reinstalling the mobo
driver package?

I tried to reinstall the chipset but nothing happened. I'm screwed. My
driver diagnoistic disk and recovery disk does no longer support my system.
Should I go back to my previous bios? I can't factory install if I wanted
to. Please help. Thanks
