Try Doug's solution:

This fix applies to Outlook and other programs that store passwords
in the Protected Storage System Provider sub-branch of the Registry.
It also corrects some issues with Internet Explorer and Autocomplete.

Carey thanks for responding but I am begining to wonder if I speak a foreign
language, which part of 'I am unable to delete the subkey' have I written in
venusian? I have posted this several times now and people (God bless them
have all come up with the same response as Dougs)

I cannot delete the subkey
I have copied and saved the protected storage system provider
I have all permissions set to full control etc etc
I am totally unable to delete the subkey which looks something like
S-1-5-21-1085031214-1202660629-1708537768-1003

so what do I do next?

Sorry for sounding Crabby but this is really bugging me, especially after I
have done a complete reinstall with no bugs adaware spies etc etc

What error message do you get if any?. Can you create a key and delete
that in perhaps another branch?. There is a 'read only' option on the
options menu, that does not show a tick when activated. (At least on
W2K)

I clicked it and tried to delete the key, and could not, but did not
get an error message. Another click switched it off and I *could* have
deleted the key then, but had a warning.
