I have multiple users so "Switch User" is regularly
initiated instead of just LogOff.
What I discovered recently was that when someone
logsoff, the music continues. When Original Switch User is
initiated, the music stays thru the logoff, blank screen
and users logon screens with their icons and into the next
logon, and continues even when that logon uses "LogOff".
When Switch User is initiated shouldn't all running
programs continue but drop to background, to allow the
next user to have full control of their internet
experience?
I noticed this first when someone was viewing music
videos with Yahoo Launch, but I just logged onto
wsmonline.com which uses windows media player and tried
Switching User. The music continued thru the entire
process of changing logon screens.
Not sure IF Yahoo Launch uses windows media player but
the above problem results in system stalls. It took 3-4
minutes for the 2nd logon screen to clear (black screen0
but after 30 minutes it never returned to the screen with
all the user icons. And the music continued to play.
I think this might be memory related. Even though XP
is "supposed" to release ram, I have found the same
problem of stalls in the past. The way I fixed it then
was to install a program called FreeRam XPpro in Documents
and Settings - All Users - Application Data, then activate
it for each user. Currently it is not installed, one of
the updates 3-5 months ago seemed to fix the problem then.
I have all updates software and hardware. My system is
Windows XP-Home, AMD 2.0, 512 DDR33 ram, Nvidea 4600,
Audigy Platinum. The only items I have running in the
bottom tray are Zone Alarm Pro (Privacy for cookies and
popups are turned Off), Norton System Works 2003 (Anti
Virus scanner), SpywareGuard, and Google Deskbar. I also
have SpyBot Immunization activated, along with
SpywareBlaster, StartUp Monitor, all other programs need
to be clicked on to run, like Adaware (free version)
Weather Watcher, MSN - AIM - Yahoo messengers, etc etc,
I have a hunch IF the continues music can be
controlled using Switch User, my stalls might disappear.
Thank You,
Doug Manne
