Switch User Causes Strange Freeze

I have a Win XP Dell. When I switch users the machine freezes and a very
short, chopped version of, I think, the logon music plays repeatedly and
doesn't stop. There is some cursor and even menu activity possible, but I
can't stop the process, log out, shut down, etc. Have to do a hard reboot.

I don't see any hardware warnings or problems in the hw manager. I thought
there might be some problem with the audio card.

A work-around is to logoff each user then logon to the new user. Would like
to have the switch user available. Any ideas?

Hi Larry,

I hate when this happens.....

I worked a thread over a year ago that had to do with this exact issue(s)
(Dell/Switch User/Logon Music). Was pretty interesting and was solved.
Search the archives for the post and good luck!

Kelly,

Forgive me, but I could not find the thread you mentioned. Can you direct me
or do you remember the solution?

Thanks again for your help!
