When to re-apply security updates

If I add a Windows 2000 service how do I know if I need
to re-apply any security updates, and if so how can I
tell which ones? Can I run Windows Update or HFNetChk to
see if I need to re-apply? I know that with Windows 2000
you do not need to re-apply Service Packs.

Yes, you can run WU or Hfnetchk (which will check for more updates).
