When opening a new msg why is my font size so large?

When opening and drafting a new email message my font size is HUGE instead of
being the actual size of the font I am using. The font size returns to
normal once the message is sent.

Go to Tools>Options>Mail Format>Fonts>on message fonts click Choose Fonts and
set the size to your liking.. maybe 10pt or 12 pt should do

That changes the font for the actual message being sent - which I don't have
a problem with. My problem with the font exists only in the "new message
window" that appears when I'm typing a new message or responding to a
message. Once the message is sent, or received, the font is the correct font
I've selected as my default. Again, my problem only occurs when I am
composing a message.
