When inserting software CD the program will not auto-start

I have an IBM Thinkpad running XP Pro. When I insert a software CD
to say install a driver, it will not auto start. The drive spins up
for a few seconds, but the progam will not start up. I must be
missing something in the setup.

From the context menu for the cd drive choose Explore and find the icon for
the installer or program you want to run and double click it. To fix
Autoplay problems, try the Autoplay Repair Tool at:
