When I Install XP I Get A SETUPDD.SYS Error

I've put a new hard drive into an Acer machine. When I run the setup for
Windows XP Home off the cd, the installation says it "setup can't access his
disk". When i press a key I then get a blue screen saying "STOP 0x0000008E"
and "SETUPDD.SYS".

Have tried with XP PRO and HOME and still the same thing.

Any Ideas

Thanks William.

I've tried multiple memory simms in the different slots and also tried
different brands and speeds. Still i get the error come up. Have
also tried
different hard drives and it still occurs. It's got me baffled a bit.

Try running the memory module test utility at www.memtest86.com and only
use one memory module at a time when running the utility. Refer to the
motherboard or computer manufacturer's manual on what type of RAM should
be used.
