File "setupdd.sys" not found

I was attempting to install Windows XP Home on another machine. After it asks
about 'press F2 for ASR' it told me: "setupdd.sys could not be found. Setup
cannot continue. Press any key to exit."
So I removed my Win XP home CD and tried a Win XP Professional CD, and got
the same error message.
How can I resolve this?

As a side question, is there anywhere I can get a copy of Windows Vista beta
version?

Hi,

How are you running setup? An ASR (Automatic System Recovery) disk is used
to recover a corrupted installation. You would not be prompted to insert
this disk unless you are running a recovery operation.

As to Vista, the beta is not currently accepting any new applications as far
as I know, but see:

I am attempting to install it, though when I run ASR, it comes with exactly
the same error message, on both the XP Home & XP Pro CDs.

I guess I wasn't clear enough. Are you attempting to run ASR or attempting a
clean installation? You wouldn't respond to the F2 prompt if running a clean
install. ASR is only used when the installation already exists.
