when i click any icon in the desktop, it try to delete the icon

i am using winxp sp1 professional, when i am clicking any icon on the
desktop, a messgae box appears and the message is do you want delete the
content and sent to recycle bin?

i am using hp laptop
processor amd athelon XP-M Mobile Version
512 mb ddr ram

once i format the computer and it was working good for two days, again the
same problem arise. how to solve it.
