Error message when trying to delete desktop icons

I have 3 duplicate desktop icons which have appeared since I installed an
upgrade of a program (Jalbum), I am trying to remove these from the desktop.
When I right click each icon and select Delete, I get an " Error Deleting
File or Folder " message box -- which says - Cannot delete file: cannot read
from source file or disk.

Can anyone help me to remove these. I'm using Windows XP Home

1. Have you rebooted since you uninstalled? If not, please do so.
2. If you have rebooted and the icons are still there, run Chkdsk /f.
After Chkdsk has finished, see if you can delete the icons then. If
not, please post back.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. You are quite right - I had not rebooted.
A reboot solved the problem. Thanks again
