The Old Fart

I have noticed several times that I get a yellow shield pop up on the
task bar to tell me that Windows has some more updates ready for me. I
look at whats on offer select several & click OK.

As I understand it the downloads will only occur when I'm not using the
connection for other things. But nothing appears to happen. I can open
my connection with my ISP & see that no data is going either up or down.
I can go back 10 minutes later after never touching the PC & still
nothing. When do the downloads start? A week later I might get notice
that downloads are ready to be installed.

Annoying that you can't check what is happening but that's life.
Sometimes it can take several days especially if the servers are busy.
If you get impatient, like I do, visit the WU site manually.
K

Updates are not downloaded or the "Automatic Updates" icon does not display the
status of downloads when you enable the Automatic Updates service
