When a file folder is double-clicked, Search appears

On a new Dell system with XP SP2, Search would appear when I double-clicked a
file folder. A new username and changing the general folder options did not
help. To fix this, I went to Tools-Folder Options-File Types and made an
'open' function for File Folders. This worked ok.

The problem is that now folders open in new windows instead of in one
window. In Folder Options-General, the 'open each folder in the same window'
is selected. Could anyone help me? I do not want to reload the system. Thanks.
