What's the purpose of "Bridging" connections in WIndows XP?

"Bridging" denotes connecting two independent networks
( or Network Interface Cards/Routers ) together.
You will see this term used in Router configurations, running
in Router or Bridging mode.
 
Spin:
Open Windows XP Help and Support. Search for "Network Bridge Overview".
