what's blocking pdf file from opening?

Don't remember since when I can not read the pdf file by using
InternetExplorer. It was a result of updating a security update a while
ago. My acobe reader has no rpoblem opening any pdf file in my computer.
Since then, I can only see a square box with red cross inside whenever there
is a pdf file to be download or view.

How do I get back the capability of reading pdf file once a link is directed
to it?

This worked for me. In Acrobat or Acrobat Reader fo to Edit > Preferences >
General > Internet... and uncheck the box that says allox pdf's to open in
browser.

sorry..that box to uncheck is "display pdf in browser"

Excuse my ignorance, but how by unchecking this box is it going to make him
read PDF files in Internet Explorer, surely if he unchecks this box he will
not be able to read PDF in Internet explorer or any other browser.
