Hi Brian,

I have the ame issue as this lady and wonder if you can help. Evertime I
load up Outlook it asks me for my paswords for each POP account again. I put
in the passwords and tick ave to pasword list. I chck in my accounts to see
that they have been updated, and they have.
I then close down outlook and when re-opening the passwords ha gone again.

HELP!!!

I am using Outlook 2002 and Windows Vista.

All has been OK for 2 weeks and this problem just started 2 days ago. I did
download something caled bearshare on the same day and I wonder if that woul
be the reason.

Thanks very much for your time

Robin

Outlook 2002 is incompatible with Vista and this is one of the primary
symptoms. I know of no way to work around it.

There is a support article on this, #290684, at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/290684. Problem is I can't make
it work on my vista o/s. This problem of not remembering passwoords has
plagued me for years now, I was excited to find the fix, but now can't make
it work in Vista.

Specifically, when I try to access the relevant registry key I get the
message "Registry Editor could not set security in the key currently
selected, or some of its subkeys". Then when I try to delete the S-1-5-21
etc. subkey I get the message "Cannot delete subkey...Error while deleting
key".

I have tried to delete the key while logged in as user and administrator,
but no luck.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. This is a very frustrating bug.

That's because Vista doesn't have the same Protected Storage Subsystem that
Windows XP had.

Does the referenced key exist? If so, right-click it and examine the
security. Does Aministrator have permission?
