What to do about this unwanted upgrade? Help please.

Hi: I am writing to this ng because I do not know where else to go, if I
need to go to another ng please let me know.
I just ugraded Windows Media Player to the latest version, 10.0.0.3646,
(don't know what led me to do that after I've resisted it for a long time)
and am now unable to finish a video project. I cannot figure out how to
save a music file playing in Media Player into My music folder. Prior to
the upgrade I downloaded these files from the Internet, saved them and used
them with my photos and animations etc.. Now I cannot find the saving
feature for a
single file, just find the "save as a playlist". I want my older version
back and have no idea how to access it. Is it lost forever? I don't like
this version and its fireworks-like appearance or
need all the commercial features of this version.
When I checked Add-Remove-Programs there are three entries: Windows Media
Format Runtime, Windows Media Player 10 and Windows Media Player Hotfix,
but am
afraid to fool around with that and de-stabilize my system.

I'd like my old version 9 back as first priority, can someone tell me please
how to
do that? If not just find out how to save a file that is playing to my
hard drive. Thank you. Josie

This should be as easy as
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore> restore your system
back to before you installed WMP 10

You would choose the Windows Media Player 10 in add/remove programs to
remove it and go back to version 9. Also there is a windows media
player newsgroup. Here is a list of all MS newsgroups:

http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

You want multimedia.windows.mediaplayer

Thank you all for getting back to me and giving me some options. I did not
see the restoring system as an option because there have been other changes
to my systems since the installation that did not want to lose. If its just
a matter of unistalling from Add-Remove-Programs and reverting to prior
version then I'm in heaben. I will check this out with the ng suggested by
Rock. Thanks again to all of you.
Regards, Josie
