We recently update our PDC to Windows 2000 server. Apparently, it wants to
force the correct time to each W2K and WXP workstation. That is great
.......but, we have locations where we keep the time set to something other
than local time. Is there a way to keep the server from forcing the time
to these units ?? Or, configure W2K and WXP to ignore this ?? Thanks

You can follow Danny's great suggestions via the registry or you can simply
turn off the W32 time service. NET STOP w32time or stop it via the Services
applet.
The clock will still run, it just won't sync up with any NTP servers or with
any of your DCs.

Regards,

BT

I tried that first. After doing so, we cannot see their shared hard drive.

wants

"You can disable syncronisation
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters
Change "type" value from Nt5DS to NoSync"

On the server ?? or client ??

Don't update to an active directory environment after you do the above
recommended changes. Kerberos requires that the client be within 5 minutes
of the server -- if not, then you won't be able to log in.

Hi

From

Note

* Computers using Kerberos for authentication must have their time
settings synchronized with a common time service within five
minutes or authentication fails. Computers running members of the
Windows Server 2003 family, Windows XP Professional, or Windows
2000 automatically update the current time, using the domain
controller as a network time service.

You could set the timezone on the machines at different locations.

Cheers,
