Why would I pay extra for XP Pro over Home? Microsoft's site is as
usual, less than helpful. The comparison page that some sites link to
is unclear.

I am mostly concerned with networking. I have NT 4 Workstation, W2K
Server, and XP Pro all running DHCP from a
wireless/router/switch/firewall.

If I buy XP Home, will I cause issues that can not be resolved? Will
there be limitations that can not be overcome? What are these issues?
Keep policits honest, re-elect Bush.
Put traitors where they belong, send kerry to prison.

See replies to your identical post in another group. Please don't
multipost - if you need to post to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost
instead, by posting a single message to a handful of relevant groups
(separate the NG names with commas) so that everyone can follow the thread.
This makes it easier for everyone, including you.

In your situation, you might want XP pro for any of these reasons:

1) Your W2K server is running a Domain, and you want it to join the domain;

2) You with to set up security options like share permissions;

3) You can forsee wanting to connect more than 5 machines to a share on the
new box;

4) You wish to remote-desktop onto the XP machine

etc, etc.
