What is Type 44?

I have been using Goback and I now discover it would appear to have taken
over my backup hard drive. I have tried to recover files from the drive but
apart from it showing up in the Task Manager devices and also Disk Management
I cannot actually see it in Windows Explorer. However, if I use a
partitioning program like Partition Magic, it shows as Type 44. Now I cannot
use any of the folders from the drive. Please can someone help me to restore
the disk or is it now defunct? I have a lot of special backups on it!

My OS is Windows XP Home edition.
