Sorry to duplicate post-no bites, so I'm trying a more descriptive subject
line.

Trying to set up long unused HP 6p on LPT1 (had been on print server long
ago). Appears to be communication errors. Control Panel shows it fine. No
interupt problems. Turned off bidirectional communications. No other
centronics cable to try, unfortunately.

Been so long, forgot DOS. What is syntax to send to LPT1:? dir|lpt1: doesn't
work, dir>lpt1: returns an error message "Access is denied". What is the
correct syntax?

Dir > lpt1 is the correct syntax, but it only works on impact or dot matrix
printer and does not work with laser printer. To test do a print test page
from window?

I was following the Microsoft help/troubleshooting directions for
troubleshooting comm. issues. It says to try printing via DOS, but doesn't
say how. Can't print test page, although Control Panel reports printer OK.
