I am using XP PRO SP2.

I right clicked on Recycle Bin, as I often have, to remove
prior-deleted stuff, and lo it asked me if I wanted to remove
'\windows'!

After I recovered from my surprise I quickly got out of there. I
tried this three times with the same result.

What is this '\windows' that it wants to remove? Not my real
c:\windows I would hope!

Thanks

I think you are safe. If you had already deleted "C:\windows" you
would not be able to load Windows.

Go to Kelly's site at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm. Click on
"R" and scroll to "Recycle Bin - Deleting Problems".

Look at the tip to delete a file then empty it and reboot. If that doesn't
work look at the other tips. You can also try a chkdsk on the drive.
