What is dumprep???

What are dumprep and dumprep.exe located in system 32
directory?? What's their function?? Are they really MSFT
files, or something that crept in from another source??
Both in StartUp. Thanks.

you type to a guy an India
You can right click , get properties, and see who made them

I'm not the original poster. I go into msconfig fairly often, looked
at the start tab last night and found "dumprep 0 -k". Haven't had any
crashes in the two months that I've had XP. I looked in Kelly's A-Z
and also did a google search; the bottom line seemed to be that
dumprep is harmless but it also doesn't seem to have anything to do
with my one-person system. After trying Restore to make it go away, I
unchecked it in msconfig and rebooted. Wasn't aware it was there; I
see no difference with it unapplied.

Since my 128MGs of memory is inadequate (have ordered more), perhaps
something might have happened in that regard to generate the setting?

Hi All,

This is loaded at startup if you had a crash and want to send a report to
Microsoft. It should be gone the next time you boot. It uses the "Runonce"
line in the registry.
