What is current Version for Windows Vista Home Premium

Beejaysoo

I checked my System Summary and my Vista Home Premium version is listed as
version 6.0.6000 Build 6000. Is this the latest version or have the various
automatic updates kept my version at it's latest level??? Where can I find
what version I presently have? If I don't have the latest version should I
be doing some kind of upgrade? Any insight into what I am asking here would
be appreciated. Also, when M/S issue updates, KBxxxxx, do they overide
previous ones or is each individual update a new and separate entity?

Thanks,

bj

Hello,

The version of Windows you are using is only updated when you install a
service pack. So far, no service packs have been released for Windows Vista.
You have the latest version of Vista.

That said, security updates and hotfixes have been released. These do not
increase your version number, but they do updates files on your computer.

The best way to determine if you have the latest updates installed is to
look in the control panel:

- click start
- click control panel
- click security
- click windows update

You will see "Windows is up to date" in green if you have applied all the
latest important updates.
