What is the latest version of Vista Home Premium? Mine is 6.0. If there is a
later update, is there a way to update mine?

All current versions of Windows Vista are 6.0

There have been hotfixes and other updates issued, available via windows
or Microsoft update. But none of those have changed the overall version
number. There is rumor of SP1 coming possibly some time next year, but
historically service packs have not changed the version number, though
the full version may become 6.0 SP1 or something similar. Historically
the version number that you refer to is only updated with a whole new
version of Windows, whatever comes beyond Vista.

Vista means Windows 6.0 and Windows 6.0 means Vista. They are synonyms, and
there is no other version of Vista.

Similarly, Windows XP means Windows 5.1 and Windows 2000 means Windows 5.0.

Names like Windows 2000, XP, and Vista are just marketing names for the
"real" names, 5.0, 5.1, and 6.0.

Thank you for the explanation!

Yes but how about if you include all the versions of windows rather than the
ones that give you a pretty pattern?

You missed 2, 3, 3.1, WfW3.11,NT to name a few.

No. What I see showing is your own personal prejudices.

Just check the real history of these Windows versions using Google groups.
Initially, they were all bad according to journalists and users. They all
ended up being good after they were used for awhile.

People do not like changing their habits or learning new ways of doing
things, even if the new way does more of what they want and does it faster
or more completely. Any new OS will mean making changes and learning. Vista
is no different.

If you look up the history of posts on the Google groups, the most used term
after the initial release of any Windows version is <insert the Windows
version here> SUCKS. This is not limited to a new OS, any new software
version from any manufacturer you look up will be the same.

That list should read like this:

Windows 95 bad (Until we learned what we could do with it)
Windows 98 good (This actually should have been called Windows 95+)
Windows Me bad (Initially, but many people learned to like it)
Windows XP good (Not initially!!! The search for XP SUCKS, during the first
year after the initial release, returns 71,000 hits)
Windows Vista BAD (Only until you learn how to use it)

Conclusion: It only 'sucks' if it does not do exactly what "I" want it to do
and the way that "I" want it to do it.

In my opinion there was no other OS as bad as Vista ever... windows Me comes
close, but vista has left it far behind....

now you can search Google all you want, for me I liked all versions of
windows right from the start, winMe I skipped so it did not effect me. But
vista stinks big time...

I never said anything bad about any version of windows..
Only vista deserves the title of "worse OS of the century"

Sorry
