What is a DHCP settings? (trying to configure linksys router)?

I am trying to hook up my linksys wireless router. I called the linksys
tech support. They said I need to configure my dhcp setting. But I see
no Dhcp setting under network preferences. Am I missing it? I have
hooked up everything. And I am even connected to the internet. I am
trying to split my dsl connecton, to my pc in the living room. The tech
support said I have to have the Dhcp setting configured before I can
share my dsl signal. The usb network adaptor is having trouble
detecting a signal. Any tips and suggestions are greatly suggested.

DHCP setting is inside the router ! Use IE and go to http://192.168.1.1 to
access menus inside router and put a radio dot in "Enable" DHCP
( DHCP sort of means "automatic" ! )
....or were you aware of all that ?

If you do not know what DHCP is, odds are you had better have a professional
help you!
