What happened to my inbox?

After making the grave mistake of downloading internet Explorer 8 my inbox
suddenly disappeared. I used to be able to access it thru MSN messenger and
was alerted whenever i received a new email. Now i get a message saying i
havent signed up for an inbox...yet it has me signed in under my Hotmail
acct. I also received the message that Hotmail is no longer supported in
VISTA. WTH???? I have about 50 emails a day coming in alerting me to people
buying my products....I want to be able to see and access it thru messenger.
i cant believe its all just been deleted. Can anyone help?
