What do the autocomplete & NK2 file have in common Utilizing To Fi

Partners are concerned when they consistently select someone from the
corporate phonebook and email them several times a week, that the person is
suddenly gone from what they term as their "autocomplete". We look in the
NK2 file and they are there. But when typing in the TO field, their name does
not show up in the dropdown. Although if we open their NK2 file with a
utility, the name is in there.

Just to clarify. Are autocomplete an what exists in the NK2 file different
things. So say we have someone that selects a person from the corporate list
and emails 5 times a week, but they never click the check names. Where
should this show up? Is this autocomplete or is it suppose to add an entry
in the nickname file?

We are really confused about how this is suppose to work. The only thing we
understand is that the NK2 file can hold @1000 entries. These folks are only
at 200 or so and seem to be losing names they email at least once a week.

Autocomplete works without using the specific check names button if you
either tab out of the field or use Ctrl+K to resolve the name. If the cache
is loosing connections to previously typed names that once resolved, you may
have a corrupt cache - creating a new mail profile will correct it.

Does a corrupt cache happen often??

We are not utilizing PST files or caching of any kind, but getting and
giving information straight from Exchange. We are also seeing this type of
thing with people with a Dell Axim. The person with the Dell Axim is set up
to sync localling. We are starting to believe these folks should have been
set up to sync against Exchange directly since we are really not caching
anything of Outlook. Yesterday we did a test. Someone had the Dell Axim in
the cradle and we had him sync it. He then added a new name, did a check
name, and we reviewed the NK2 file. It did not update. Removed the Dell Axim
from the cradle, WITHOUT syncing and the NK2 file updated magically. The file
is R/W..nothing wrong with it.

We had him then put the Dell Axim from the cradle, go into Outlook, add a
new person and it is there until we reboot, then it is out of there list. As
soon as he took off the Axim from the cradle, the NK2 file updated (not
syncing or anything).

Any clues....

Nope.

I've never known this to be a factor.

You're not using Cached Exchange mode? However, whether you are or not,
synching a PDA with Outlook or directly with Exchange is identical when
you're not using a PST and your delivery location is an Exchange mailbox.

What version of Outlook , what version of ActiveSync, what version of
Exchange?
