What do I need to use to reinstall with "reinstalling"...?

I have a couple of legacy applications (these are vertical market programs
for my clients) that have problems with relatively clean installations of XP
(Home and/or Pro). I've narrowed down the problem on my two XP machines but
as soon as I install VB4 or some other package the problem goes away.

To that end I've secure an old P2 300 mHz and installed XP Pro and virus
software. I would like to be able to recreate this environment without
having to reinstall from the CD's again. These applications install files
into the system folders and may also update the registry. Is there a way to
create a backup of the installation that when restored will put XP back to
it's current, freshly installed, condition without the extra system files?

A few different ways are possible. Use a program such as GoBack (from
Symantec). You can also use an imaging program such as Drive Image
(discontinued), Ghost (from Symantec), True Image (from Acronis) etc. All of
these will allow you to get back to the way you were in about 10-15 minutes
with a reboot.

Richard,

Thanks for the tip. I completely forgot about Ghost. I'll give it a try.
Thanks for the quick response...
