Since you never asked a question there is nothing to respond to. So
we'll take it that you are just trying to let us know.

However, if it were my PC, and it was just loaded, I'd do it again.
The "CD's that came with Windows XP" bothers me since its only one cd
and not several. And unless this is fresh off the showroom floor, not
many people have a CD with SP3 already. So I question how did you
make the SP3 CD or get it? Both questions/comments make me think you
have a screwed up copy if a fresh load does not work out of the box.
I'd step back and maybe find the SP2 CD and reload and then upgrade to
SP3 with the approved download.
IF ALL THE ABOVE IS TRUE THAT IS. I just lack info to be more factual.

Have fun.. Al.

Check the System log of Event Viewer for Error Reports.

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System log in Event Viewer for the last boot. No Information Reports or
Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Hope this helps.
